Nepal / Trip cost

What a trip to Nepal costs

Not a price list — prices change too fast for that to be honest. This is how a Nepal budget actually breaks down, and what pushes it up or down.

The honest version

Why we do not quote a daily budget for Nepal

Any site that states a fixed daily cost for Nepal is guessing at your travel style, your season and your hotel taste. So instead of inventing numbers, here is the structure of the spend — and a calculator that works from your estimates, not ours.

A Nepal budget is dominated by the trek if you take one: permits, guiding and portering, mountain flights and teahouse days. Kathmandu sightseeing itself is a smaller share.

The categories

Where a Nepal budget goes

Multi-day tours

The backbone line item if you book a guided tour of Nepal: it typically bundles guiding, transport between sights, and often accommodation and some meals into one price, replacing several categories below.

Day activities and tickets

Day tours, attraction tickets and excursions booked separately — the category that grows fastest when you build the trip yourself instead of taking a bundled tour.

Stays

Hotels, riads, guesthouses or resorts, night by night. Location within the destination usually matters as much as standard.

Food

From street food and local restaurants to hotel dining — the widest daily swing in most trips, and the easiest category to steer up or down.

Local transport

Airport transfers, taxis, metros, ferries and internal journeys that are not already inside a tour price.

Up or down

What drives the price of a Nepal trip

  • Trek length and region: every extra day on the trail adds costs, and restricted-area permits price far above standard ones.
  • Guiding and porters: how you staff the trek is both a safety and a budget decision.
  • Mountain flights: flying to trailheads like Lukla costs more than road access but saves days.
  • Season: the October–November peak prices everything from flights to lodges; monsoon trips are cheapest and riskiest.

Run your own numbers

Enter your own per-day estimates into our trip budget calculator and it totals the trip for you — per person and per group, in the currency you choose. Your figures, your trip; nothing is sent anywhere.

When you are ready to see real numbers, they live on the booking sites — the live price for your dates is shown before you pay.
